Conversations among singles have shifted recently, in line with national trends: people want to find someone else who is making a difference in the world.
The traditional check list of financial security, religious affiliation, and political affiliation are
important to many singles, but philanthropy is making a rise on the list too. So Carolinas Matchmaker decided to pair generosity and dating to create Philanthrodating™.
The mixers are singles events where people can meet others who value charitable giving and work. Volunteerism is a lifestyle choice. Being able to step outside yourself and help others through donating money or your time creates a certain type of individual. Many people with philanthropy in their DNA want their life partner to have the same mindset they do.
Attendance has grown exponentially since the first PhilanthrodatingTm event November 2016. And it makes sense, the Charlotte Metro region ranks ninth in the country for charitable giving, donating about 3.4% of their income to charity. Nearly 47% of millennials volunteered for a cause or nonprofit in the past month.
